Turtle Interrupted

Found this girl in the driveway trying to lay some eggs! Yes, in the driveway. We can’t have that. I caught her in time and took her back to the river bank. I felt bad, she looked really tired but it is just not a good idea to lay your eggs in the driveway. I do think a few of her girlfriends had already been and gone though so we’ll have to keep an eye out for baby turtles.

Another turtle’s plans foiled…

No sign of Peanut’s friends

This is an empty humane mouse trap made by Havahart :) Nice company name huh? I got this as a back up for this:

An ultrasonic mouse deterrent! It looks like they work. I accidentally cut the top off the package with the company name but you can see what they look like.

So you see, no need to kill anyone – technology and innovation to the rescue. People in Maine need to get with the times!

Good Morning Maine!

These were taken at 4:30 this morning. Why was I up at 4:30? I have no idea. Obviously if I am going to live here I will need a better camera. the sky was so pretty and there was a mist coming off the river – neither of which you can see in the photo! The landscape has changed a lot in the past month, everything is very green – hundreds of different shades of green – I’ll try to get a photo that does it justice :)

This is a crow that was screaming his head off.

Eagle 1 Photographer 0

So there is a fabulous bald eagle that flies by my window in the mornings. Determined to get a shot, I checked the time yesterday when I saw him – 10:38. So this morning I was set up and ready, had the camera on the right setting and I was at the window ready to go! It was raining but I thought I might get lucky. I waited from 9:30 until 10:45 – no eagle. I figured it was too rainy and he was hunkered down in a tree somewhere – well as soon as I starting taking photos of sculptures, the little bugger showed up! By this time the camera was on the wrong setting and the above shot is all I got. He is in there somewhere but I’ll be darned if I can tell where! He had showed up at 10:59 LOL This bird photography thing is harder than I thought…

Bar Harbor

These are shots of MDI on the way to Bar Harbor – gorgeous isn’t it? It’s so pretty here, and so clean. I like it. Still working without Internet at home, I can do everything I need on my blackberry, except blog! Oh well, I’ll schedule posts I guess until I get it sorted. Although I don’t mind not being connected… ;)
