Going Gray

Well it’s that time. I’ve always told myself that when I got older I’d let my hair go gray. I’ve realized that I am older, now. I’ll be 50 in a few short years! 50! It’s amazing to realize I’m so old Anyway, I’ve stared letting it grow in before I have to do it with a skunk stripe. I had no idea I was already this gray, thought I just had a little streak in the front, surprise, surprise… Not a fan of the salt and pepper look on myself (much rather have all gray) but I’ll just have to suffer through it!

2 am – found these two, really thought that was it, until…

Another one showed up at 6 am. This one is pretty fat, obviously been coming here for the peanuts for quite a while now. I’m afraid that they may have chewed themselves a new entrance.

So I went to town with the steel wool and I think I have the house sealed up now, but three mice got trapped inside. This is one of them, set free this morning, two to go!

Mouse Triage

So here we go again, another injured mouse! I was woken up around 5am by squealing. I found this mouse stuck in the wire. He had squeezed half of his body through but was stuck and couldn’t get his hips through. As soon as he saw me he freaked out and tried to shove his head through the square at the top. He had blood all over his back paws. I really wasn’t sure how I’d get him out, if I even could, but it turned out to be really easy, just snipped the square where his hips were stuck and then he backed out of the top square with a little coaxing. The garbage can was the only thing handy. That’s blood, not dirt in the can and you can see his tail is pretty messed up. Never in my life have I even seen a mouse and now I’ve had two injured ones in the past year, life in the country? So he’ll rehab in the can for a few days, at least it’s warm in here

I am curious though – don’t an animal’s whiskers give it a gauge on what what they can fit through? Is this mouse just not very smart? Gained more weight than he realized?

Working on a bunch of new stuff while I’m waiting for the new studio to get set up – a pig, monkey, elephant, rhino, green bottle fly, hatching penguin (there goes the no more birds thing LOL), bat, tarsier and a caterpillar! Will post some things soon

Mamma Dog

Finally, after six weeks of feeding her she didn’t run off into the woods as soon as she saw me. I wonder if it had anything to do with the little bits of left over steak I put out for her last night?
