I am starting to get fed up with all these plastic, bags, bottles and Styrofoam being washed up on our beaches, because the general public just throw the stuff away into the ocean and do not care about the consequences.

I personally have not seen the plastic can things for a while now, so I was horrified that a big company like Coca-cola are still using them, they are not necessary and please could you stop using them.

Way to go Coca Cola! Yes, I'm being sarcastic... We have known for at least 20 years the harm that these plastic can holders do to the animals, it's unconscionable that they continue to use them. 1. This is so horrible. Thanks for drawing attention to it.

    • It is horrible and we have known the damage those plastic can holders cause for DECADES. I remember hearing about it in high school!
We use to cut the circles so the sea gulls wouldn’t get stuck in them. There is just no excuse for Coca Cola to still be using them. It’s despicable.

  2. This makes me so sad. I want to go out and take care of them all :’(

  3. This is so sad. It’s bad enough that people don’t recycle, but to then turn around a liter is criminal. Especially when once again, our little furry, feathery, friends suffer the consequences.

  4. Ugh this is so disturbing and eye-opening.

  5. this leaves me almost speechless, the only words that come to mind are not fit for polite company.

  6. I’ve heard that there are millions and millions of tons of plastic waste of all kinds trapped and circling around the North Pacific gyre. It’s absolutely insane. And for diving seabirds such as a gannet or cormorant or albatross their chicks are condemned to an extremely unpleasant death through being fed a cigarette lighter which was mistaken for a fish. So much of this stuff is recyclable, so why the hell do we jettison it into our oceans?

Thanks for posting the link to the petition, it’s my next stop.

  7. I pick these things up and take them home where I cut through the plastic so wildlife won’t get stuck in them. Very irritating that people litter so casually.

  8. TY for this distressing bit of information… the pictures are shocking and I’m tired of the pollution too!
